Position ArchiveThe Skoulakis lab is seeking highly motivated applicants for one (1) post-doctoral position in insect electrophysiology support a national project (ARISTEIA I) entitled “A fly quantum olfactory sensor"”. The program is covered by the Operational Program “Education & Lifelong Learning” and is co-funded by the European Union (European Social Fund) and national funds. The project aims to identify the molecular and physiological mechanisms underlying odorant detection by the Drosophila melanogaster olfactory system using genetic, behavioral, electrophysiological and biophysical methods in vivo.
Research under this program will take place in the facilities of BSRC”Alexander Fleming”, at Vari, Attiki, Greece and for a period of 36 months-starting immediatelly.
- Applicants should hold a PhD in any biological science but must be trained electrophysiologists preferably in insect systems. They will develop field and single neuron electroantenograms in response to odorant isotopes in normal and transgenic Drosophila melanogaster.
