The transgenic facility (http://www.fleming.gr/tggt/) of the Biomedical Sciences Research Centre “Alexander Fleming” (www.fleming.gr) in Vari (Greece), integrates transgenic technologies in the mouse for the support of cutting-edge biomedical research by the centre’s scientists, their external academic collaborators and biotech/pharmaceutical companies. The facility seeks a senior transgenic animal scientist to head its operations in the generation and archiving of transgenic mice.
The successful candidate will be heading a unit with two qualified technicians and will be in charge of the organization, management and implementation of transgenic protocols including:
• Gene targeting in mouse embryonic stem (ES) cells
• Blastocyst injections of ES cells and uterine transfers
• Pronuclear injections of nucleic acids in mouse oocytes and ovary transfers
• Sperm/Embryo Freezing and recovery of mutant lines
• Rederivation of mutant lines
• Database Archiving of mutant lines
The position offers high career prospects. Applicants should preferably have a BSc/PhD in biological sciences and extensive experience in mouse transgenesis and archiving protocols.
